Commerce Explanation: What Can You Do With It? (Sociability Trade)

Five golds is needed to learn commerce skill and it uses 5 hours to learn.

Before providing you a guide for the commerce, I would like to share you my experiences and opinions. I did not learn the commerce until I needed gold wing for the Socialbility Trade (I learnt it so late because I didn't know the commerce benefits!). That means two copper wings (leadership and commerce) are needed for Socialbility Gold Wing. Commerce, this term is a bit confusing because it sounds like gold supply. Commerce consumes your golds and agreements to haggle for resources. You may make golds by selling the items that you haggled.

Agreements can be obtained by doing the "establishing contacts in Hawkoria". The figures below show one of the agreements that can be obtained from Hawkoria city. You can get tribal agreement from the Maliken Harbor.

There are a few good things about commerce. Commerce can be used to haggle some resources that can't be obtained easily such as the silk fibers, alsafa leaves, lithosnow lumps, leathers (Aryann*, a rare leather!) and others. The first good reason for beginners to learn commerce is to haggle for silk. You will use it to make Huberian fabric. Huberian fabric requires two silk fibers, two wools fibers, and Elliandel ore. For advanced players, they use commerce skill to get agreements (Naval and Clandestine agreements) to exchange for Wingu Fabrics (Epic item!), but you need to complete the swordcape quest which only open after you finished the Den chain quests.

*You have to do the quest in Raven Inn

Another good reason is that it saves your time to mine resources, but it uses golds to save time. You can use commerce to haggle for tin and copper nuggets, cedar planks, slate blocks, and others. I always use commerce to haggle the nuggets and blocks.

There are a few things that you need to know. Your hero does need to meet the land requirement in order to be able to haggle. For example, Hawkoria city requires 15 urban land skill. Urban is not easy to level up for beginner. For beginner, I would suggest you recruiting the Sister in Arm (Fighter companion from inn) because she gives urban bonus. Also, ring that gives urban bonus might be good too.
